Caring for Silk Fabrics and Silk Garments

Pressing your fabric

For this you may use white silk organza fabric. Place this white silk organza fabric between your garment and the iron. By doing so, you will protect your silk garment from the hot iron and the hot steam splattering from the iron. If you’re not using another fabric for pressing, make sure to set the iron at the lowest setting and press it only when necessary.

Storage of silk garments

•    Store silk in wood chest or hang it in a wood armoire. Store them with other silk pieces.

•    Silk is sensitive to light, therefore, if possible do not store them by the windows.

•    It is best to let silk garments hang freely, so they can air out, otherwise the silk may get damaged by age. If they are stored folded, every couple months air them out by hanging them up.
